Software update 17 November 2011

itslearning was updated on 17 November 2011. This time we've updated the look and feel, but we've got other news as well. In addition to the design refresh, learners and their supervisors can now access important information through the new person profile. We also support a new language and have interesting new integrations.

itslearning has a new look!

You've probably noticed the new colours, icons and menus already? Read all about the design refresh in this article.


Access information through the person profile

To all learners: Your assessments are now only a click away. Before this update you had to enter each course to see your assessments. Now you can simply click your name in the personal menu to access your assessments, attendance and behaviour remarks.


See your relations to other users

When clicking another person's name – for example in course lists and assignment overview – his profile opens. To make it easier to distinguish users, the profile now shows any courses you have in common, and how you are related. For example: "Frank Beck is your teacher in the following courses: History and English".


To make it easier to follow discussions, new posts and threads will now appear in the notification content block.


Attendance change log

Teachers can now view the attendance change log. Previously, this information was available to mentors and headteachers only. You'll find the log in Status and follow-up >> Attendance >> Reports >> Term report.

Updated app library

The app library is revamped. Read more in this press release.

Here it is in full for those that can't access those: Dear itslearning Customer, As many of you are already aware post the upgrade to the itslearning platform last night a number of schools utilising a mail integration (Google Mail or Live@edu) may be unable to access their email. Through the help of a number local authority representatives we have identified an issue relating to the Animal Misfits and Space Theme skins using Internet Explorer. If a user has one of these themes set either a global profile or school policy level, when hovering the mouse over the "INBOX" icon the drop down list to allow access to the following do not appear – Messages (internal itslearning UK messaging system) “GoogleMail” or “Live@edu” (this option is dependent on your school configuration) itslearning are investigating this issue and putting together a hotfix to deploy to customers. While this is the company’s highest priority we want to ensure that the hotfix does not cause any further issues to users so will be need to ensure correct quality checks are put in place prior to the release. itslearning aim to have the release available to customers over the next 24 hours. As an interim workaround, it is recommended that users go to their personal dashboards “My Dashboard” and click on the “Compose mail” link in the “E-Mail” content block. Should this not be available please see the steps below for a user to add the “E-mail” content block From the users dashboard click on the link “+ Add content block” A pop-up window will appear. Click on the “Aggregated” tab Click on the option “E-mail” The user will be taken back to their dashboard and the “E-mail” content block displayed It has also been highlighted that some users of Internet Explorer may receive a blank page or “Page cannot be found” error. Should this occur the recommend steps to resolve are listed below – Delete the “Temporary Internet files”, “Cookies” and ensure the tick for the option “Preserve Favourite website data” is removed itslearning are treating this matter with the highest priority and hope to have the issue rectified shortly. Heard nothing more from them that day. Came in today to find email still down. Colleague rang to chase late this morning, to be talked through a fix. Just wondering at what point It's learning were going to contact their customers to inform them of this. The jolly fellow informed my colleague that they had emailed, which of course is no good if your email system is down!

If this is the case on your computer, it is because the website has been cached locally so you need to clear out your cookies and temporary internet files. Then Click "Apply" and "OK". This will clear your cache and should allow you to log in normally.
