New year - New possibilities
The first it's learning update this year focuses on the administration area, introducing a new tool to support eSafety as well as extended possibilities for managing user rights through Policies. The mentor role has also been expanded to manage both attendance and behaviour keeping.
New Attendance Tool
To make the attendance keeping as efficient and simple as possible, it’s learning introduce a brand new attendance tool with an intuitive interface.
New reports as well as day and term overviews facilitate early detection of problems connected to absence. The reports show attendance statistics for individual learners and courses, and calculate absence rates.
The attendance tool is highly flexible and allows schools or LAs to define their own set of reasons for absence.
Reminder for students
To help reminding learners of the importance of attendance and participation, they can follow their attendance across courses in their ePortfolio.
If you wish to start using the Attendance Tool, please contact your it's learning account manager.

Track Behaviour
With this release we introduce a tool for keeping track of positive and negative behaviour. Both mentors and teachers can keep behaviour, and learners get reports of how their conduct has been rated. Schools can define their own behaviour types, and set up a weighting system to mark student behaviour.
If you wish to start using the Behaviour Tool, please contact your it's learning account manager.

eSafety Settings
The aim of eSafety is to make the Learning Platform even more secure for students by limiting who can they can be in touch with.
Administrators can configure the users' visibility and communication in the site profiles.
In short, the settings decide:
- who users will find in searches
- who users may communicate with
- who users may receive communication from
Policies for Detailed Profile Management
A policy is a collection of profile settings that can be assigned to profiles or individual users within an organisation – such as a site or school. Policies override the default profile or user settings. The aim is to avoid having to create a large range of different profiles and to allow for individual adaptation of user rights.
With the introduction of Policies, you no longer need to edit existing profiles or create new profiles in order to change permissions for single or groups of users.
With this added flexibility, schools may now have their own profile or user settings, independently of other schools on the same it's learning site.
