eSafety

System Administrators are now able to configure the user visibility and communication settings on a site by using   eSafety, a Profile setting which is managed under the Administration tab >> Profiles.  This can be done for three different roles:

  • Learners: Users with the role Pupil in a hierarchy
  • Staff: Users with the roles Teacher or Administrator in a hierarchy
  • Others: Users with the role Guest in a hierarchy

The settings cover:

  • Visibility – who can see or find users
  • Communication – who can send messages and emails to whom
  • Communication receipt – who can receive communication from whom

A simple example of when these settings might be useful would be to stop Guest accounts from being able to see and communicate with pupils.

It is important to note, however, that there are fixed rules that eSafety settings will not override.

 Learners are always allowed to:

  • Communicate with their parents, current mentors and teachers, and other users in the same courses or projects.
  • Search for their parents, current mentors and teachers, and other users in the same courses or projects.

Parents are always allowed to:
